Nas $5B Proposal to rival JAY-Z for NYC Casino License

Nas is partnering with Resorts World Casino New York City on a $5 billion expansion to turn the casino into a casino in Jamaica, Queens.

Nas remarked, “This is an ambitious project that will give new opportunities to the hard-working families who call Queens home, attract top-tier talent, and build up the next generation of leaders,” Rhyme Junkie reported.

Nas said, “It's an honor to be here, to be a part of this with Resorts World, realizing the future, seeing what this can be and what it will be.”

Resorts World will build a multi-functional casino with “a 7,000-seat capacity entertainment venue intended for hosting events and concerts,” Billboard reports.

The casino will have parks, residences, hotels, restaurants, and improved JFK Airport and Manhattan transportation. This comprehensive proposal might provide 5,000 union jobs.

Nas made the news Thursday at Southeast Queens Casino, according Forbes.

“When we stood here more than a dozen years ago to break ground on Resorts World New York City, our vision extended well beyond that already-ambitious original plan — today, that vision can soon become a reality,” Genting America East president Robert DeSalvio said.

It appears Nas' ‘ambitious’ plan is vying with JAY-Z for the NYC casino license.

Previous reports showed Jigga's Roc Nation running full-page advertising in numerous periodicals on its NYC casino plans.

“A gaming license is going to be awarded to New York City,” the letter says, Complex reported. State legislature enacted a measure affirming it. Which applicant gets the license? We wanted to talk to you, New York City, about disinformation from conflicting parties.”

JAY-Z joined investors in a Times Square casino project.

According to the New York Post, the hip-hop entrepreneur, SL Green, and Caesars Entertainment proposed building the first full-scale boutique-style casino at 1515 Broadway office skyscraper to the state. JAY-Z will oversee entertainment at the skyscraper and SL Green's six other Times Square buildings.

“New York is cultural hub. JAY-Z remarked, "We have the opportunity to create a destination at the heart of the true crossroads of the word." My cooperation with SL Green and Caesars promises economic opportunities, growth, and enrichment for the community and visitors to the Empire State.”

Roc Nation ran an ad in the New York Post, Daily News, and Amsterdam News last year.
