The 50th Bayou Classic, which pitted Southern and Grambling State universities against one another, drew thousands of spectators to the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
The Bayou Classic is an annual college football classic rivalry game between the Southern University Jaguars and the Grambling State University Tigers. The series proper started in 1932, but the game was first played at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans under that moniker in 1974.A mainstay of the New Orleans community, the Bayou Classic infuses the city with culture, quality, and history. Everyone knows that halftime is game time, even though many people attend to support their sides!
Beyond the football field, Southern and Grambling have a rivalry. Both bands have a reputation for bringing the house down and inspiring fans to get up from their seats.
At Southern University's halftime show, The American Idol performed with them and provided the audience with just what they needed! In addition to singing one of her greatest hits, "When I See You," she also gave a rendition of the DC Go-Go classic "Overnight Scenario."
