Cyndi Lauper's son arrested in connection to NYC shooting

New York City Police told Fox News Digital that Cyndi Lauper's 26-year-old son was detained for a gunshot Wednesday.

Declyn Lauper was charged with weapon and controlled drug possession.

Police responded to a 911 call at 7:15 p.m. and discovered a 24-year-old man wounded in the leg. An NYPD official said Declyn was detained at the 28th Precinct "confines" about 7:30 p.m.

The injured man was sent to Mount Sinai Morningside-St. Luke's in "stable condition."

Police say the probe continues.

A Cyndi Lauper spokesman did not reply to Fox News Digital's initial request for comment.

The New York Daily News reported Declyn's 2022 arrest.

Police informed the source that he was caught in the driver's seat of a stolen, illegally double-parked car.

Unauthorized vehicle usage was his accusation. New York Post said that Declyn was sentenced to do five days of community service and remain out of court for a year.

Declyn lives with his mother on the Upper West Side.

In 1983, Cyndi released "She's So Unusual," her debut album. Her hits include "Girls Just Want To Have Fun," "True Colors," and "Time After Time."
