The 49ers looked at kicking options this week due to injury concerns, and they're about to sign one of them.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Matthew Wright will be signed by the 49ers. The 49ers placed Zane Gonzalez on injured reserve earlier this week due to a calf issue, while third-round pick Jake Moody may not be ready for Week One due to a quad injury.
Wright played for the Steelers and Chiefs in the previous season and spent the summer with the Panthers. In 2020 and 2021, he also played for the Steelers and Jaguars, respectively.
In his career, Wright has made 40 of 46 field goals and 35 of 37 extra points.
