Donald Lawrence releases album as tribute to Twinkie Clark

Grammy-winning artist Donald Lawrence stated of his latest record, "Donald Lawrence Presents Power: A Tribute to Twinkie Clark" (Verity/Provident/Sony Music), "I want to take them back in time." "To present the music to a fresh audience."

The 15-time Stellar Award winner is celebrating Twinkie Clark's songwriting, which played a significant role in creating the contemporary gospel genre. Donald Lawrence & Company, J Moss, PJ Morton, Kierra Sheard, The Clark Sisters, Shirley Murdock, Sir The Baptist, Jakalyn Carr, Donald Lawrence & Company, and Kelontae Gavin provided vocal assistance to help showcase some of Twinkie's greatest hits. As a songwriter, music director, producer, and recording artist, Lawrence is a legend in the contemporary gospel genre. He produced the soundtrack for the film The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel and served as its music director.

"I had the idea after working on the soundtrack for the film The Clark Sisters." Regarding the eight tracks on the CD "Donald Lawrence Presents Power: A Tribute to Twinkie Clark," I had reinterpreted them, Donald informed me.

The tracks that Lawrence reworked for the new album were taken from Twinkie's 1981 solo album "Ye Shall Receive Power."

This specific album I'm starting the album 'Power' over from scratch," he continued. "After listening to it, I can tell it's unique. I was like, "Wow!" when I heard "Fix Me Jesus," which featured Sir The Baptist, Jason Ferdinand, and The Jason Ferdinand Singers, and "Awake O' Zion," which featured J Moss and Daniel Weatherspoon. WOW was what I heard, even though the originals were fantastic.
There is a lyric music video for the tune "Awake O'Zion." The Clark Sisters and Mr. Talkbox can be heard on the title track of Twinkie Clark's "...Power" album, which is featured on Donald Lawrence's latest release. Donald is joined by Shirley Murdock, Kierra Sheard, Jekalyn Carr, and Kelontae Gavin on the song "My Soul Loves Jesus." "Praise the Lord," a song by Donald Lawrence, features PJ Morton of Maroon 5. Lawrence's labelmate Yolanda Adams appears on the album's lead hit, "In Him, There is No Sorrow."

In addition, the 15-time Grammy nominee collaborates with Stephanie Mills, Mary J. Blige, and En Vogue in the R&B genre. Additionally, he has worked with Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobb Leonard, and Bebe Winans. His groups, Donald Lawrence & Company ("There Is a King in You") and The Tri-City Singers and Company ("Encourage Yourself" and "The Gift"), demonstrate his talent for nurturing performers. Additionally, Donald Lawrence is again in charge of music for the McDonald's Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour, which will visit six cities between September and December.
