New Orleans authorities have seized the Kulture clothing store in the French Quarter after uncovering a large-scale narcotics and firearms trafficking operation allegedly run from the business.
In a dramatic multi-agency raid, law enforcement officials shut down Kulture, a retail store located on the 300 block of Burgundy Street, just off Bienville Street. The seizure followed a months-long investigation led by the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with the New Orleans Police Department, Louisiana State Police, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

A Retail Front for a Criminal Enterprise
Authorities say Kulture was operating as a front for a major drug and gun trafficking ring, distributing narcotics and firearms across state lines. During the court-approved search, agents recovered large quantities of marijuana, fentanyl, illegal firearms, and over $150,000 in suspected drug proceeds. Three vehicles were also seized as part of the operation.
“This was not just a local operation,” said District Attorney Jason Williams. “We’ve documented supply routes, conducted controlled purchases, and gathered enough evidence to pursue serious convictions in court”.
Arrests and Community Reaction
Three individuals were arrested during the raid, including the store’s owner. Charges are expected to include drug trafficking, illegal possession of firearms, and money laundering. The suspects are believed to have coordinated with networks outside Louisiana, raising concerns about broader criminal ties.
Local residents and nearby business owners expressed shock at the revelation. “The ATF and NOPD were everywhere,” said Teddy Schiro, general manager of FreeWheelin’ Bike Tours. “They had the whole block blocked off, guns drawn down there”.
Ongoing Investigation
Law enforcement officials say the investigation is ongoing and may lead to additional arrests. The seizure of Kulture is part of a broader crackdown on organized crime in the French Quarter, an area known for its tourism but increasingly scrutinized for criminal activity operating behind storefronts.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact Crimestoppers or the Orleans Parish DA’s Office.
